Water – the essential element of life, without which we wouldn’t be able to survive for more than a few days. In its natural state, water has a structure that profoundly benefits the human body, which is made up of 70% water.
What is the difference between tap water and structured water? Where can we find structured water? Is it just an empty marketing promise? Absolutely not.
Join us for a short exploration of the type of water that flows through our bodies and the real meaning of “structured water.”
Structured water, also known as hexagonal water, is found in nature and within our own cells. We are born with structured water already present in our bodies. It has an optimal pH value that is crucial for our health and helps us maintain maximum hydration. However, it diminishes as we age, so it’s very important to regularly replenish it.
If you live in a secluded area by the forest, you probably have access to spring water and naturally replenish structured water directly from nature. In cities, it’s not that easy. We’re left with “only” tap water, which is more like “fast food” for our cells than actual hydration.
From a scientific standpoint, structured water has a different molecular arrangement than our body naturally accepts. While regular water molecules are randomly bonded via hydrogen bonds, structured water molecules form regular hexagonal patterns. This harmonious structure is created by nature and without any chemical intervention.
This seemingly minor difference dramatically impacts the water's properties, behavior, and quality. It’s possible for your body to feel dehydrated even if you're drinking liters of water daily. The body needs water that it can absorb properly at the right places — just drinking "any water" is not enough.
Dr. Gerald Pollack, one of the leading researchers at the University of Washington, who specializes in structured water, believes that the structure of water is directly influenced by natural heat and light. These literally change the molecular composition of the water we drink and store in our bodies.
Just like the entire natural world exists in a clear structure in its harmonious form, water too has a natural structure. The structure of water is critical to its quality. When molecules are chaotically arranged, water loses many of its natural and beneficial properties.
That's why spring water tastes so good — we drink it in its original form. It is a life elixir for our bodies, that replenishes our energy even better than sugar or caffeine.
Tap water, by contrast, is chemically treated and loses much of its natural quality through the purification process.
In nature, structured water forms through several mechanisms:
Structured water is therefore water in its purest, natural form — untreated and free of chemical interventions. Tap water, on the other hand, has undergone chemical, mechanical, and various other treatments that alter its structure.
Water in nature, compared to water from artificial reservoirs, is always in motion, and this movement has a crucial impact on the quality of the water. Modern technologies like Somavedic allow us to replicate these natural principles and structure water even in home conditions.
Structured water has higher biological availability — it penetrates every cell in the body more efficiently, hydrates better, delivers more energy, and supports the body's self-healing processes. You feel fresher, more energetic, and stronger. The quality of water affects our performance, tissue longevity, and both mental and physical processes.
Water harmonization (e.g., via Somavedic technology) enhances water quality, enabling our cells to absorb it more effectively, hydrate thoroughly, and protect against excess free radicals. The body also releases harmful substances more efficiently, improving the natural detoxification process.
Once structured water enters the body, it likely continues adapting its structure. It reacts to specific energy sources, just as it does in nature — such as heat (from the sun, the earth, or heaters), infrared light, or even human touch.
The quality of water influences biological processes in the body and our resilience. By drinking truly high-quality, preferably structured water, the body responds more positively to beneficial external influences and enhances its own potential. The effects of structured water may even multiply over time, strengthening the body’s resistance to environmental stressors.
