We all know the importance of a good night’s sleep. It helps you feel refreshed and rejuvenated, improves concentration and memory, and can even help with weight loss. But how does sleep work? How Does Sleep Work?

What Happens When You Sleep?

During sleep, your body can rest and repair itself. The body slows down its metabolism and shuts off all non-essential functions. As a result, your heart rate and breathing slow down, and your body temperature decreases. This decrease in activity allows your body to conserve energy and use it to repair damaged cells. Sleep also helps to reduce inflammation throughout the body.

In addition, sleep provides the opportunity for mental and emotional rejuvenation. The slow brain waves allow you to process information efficiently. Sleep is also vital for regulating moods. The hormones that are released during sleep help to stabilize our moods and keep us feeling optimistic.
